Ingredients
For the Stir Fry:
- 8 oz flat rice noodles (or your choice of noodles)
- 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 medium carrot, julienned or thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
For the Sticky Sauce:
- ¼ cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional, for extra umami)
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- ½ cup chicken or beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry for thickening)
For Garnish (Optional):
- Sesame seeds
- Sliced green onions
- Red chili flakes (for heat)
Instructions
1. Cook the Noodles:
- Cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. Prepare the Sticky Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, sesame oil, and broth. Set aside.
3. Stir Fry the Beef and Vegetables:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the garlic and ginger, and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli, and carrots. Stir fry for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
4. Combine Everything:
- Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sticky sauce over the mixture and stir to combine.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.
5. Add the Noodles:
- Toss the cooked noodles into the skillet with the beef and vegetables. Stir everything together until the noodles are well-coated with the sticky sauce and heated through.
6. Serve and Garnish:
- Divide the stir fry into bowls and garnish with sesame seeds, sliced green onions, or red chili flakes if desired. Serve hot and enjoy the bold flavors!
